Myrtlewood is a small town located in Baldwin County, Alabama. The population was 1,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Mobile metropolitan area.

The town was founded in 1884 by J.W. and Hettie (Baldwin) Moore and named for their Myrtlewood plantation which had been in the family since 1790. The Moore family operated a general store and post office until 1902 when it was closed due to competition from a new store built just down the street by Rufus Moore, grandson of J.W. Moore. In 1905, Rufus opened a bank which continued to serve Myrtlewood until it was consolidated with another bank in 1968.

The town's economy has traditionally been based on agriculture, with cotton being the main crop grown before World War II; however, today most of the town's businesses are related to real estate or tourism. There are three major subdivisions within Myrtlewood: North Myrtlewood (containing most of the commercial area), South Myrtlewood (home to most of the residential areas), and West Myrtlewood (a newer development on the outskirts of town).

Today there are several well-known real estate companies headquartered in or near Myrtlewood including Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Company, Keller Williams Realty Inc., RE/MAX Results Inc., and Century 21 Affiliates LLC.. Tourism is also an important part of the local economy with visitors coming for golf at nearby Pines Golf Club as well as fishing, bird watching, hiking trails, antique shopping and more at various locations throughout Baldwin County including Gadsden State Park and Fort Morgan State Historic Site just outside Mobile .
