Belleville is a small town located in Johnson County, Kansas. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Belleville is located in the eastern part of the state and is bordered by Topeka to the north, Lawrence to the east, and Gardner to the south.

The first settlers arrived in Belleville around 1855. The town was named after Bellevue Place in London, England. Belleville was incorporated as a city in 1886. The economy of Belleville is based largely on agriculture and manufacturing. However, since 2000 there has been a significant increase in commercial and residential development due to its proximity to Kansas City and Topeka.
