Belleville, KS

Belleville is a small town located in Johnson County, Kansas. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Belleville is located in the eastern part of the state and is bordered by Topeka to the north, Lawrence to the east, and Gardner to the south.

The first settlers arrived in Belleville around 1855. The town was named after Bellevue Place in London, England. Belleville was incorporated as a city in 1886. The economy of Belleville is based largely on agriculture and manufacturing. However, since 2000 there has been a significant increase in commercial and residential development due to its proximity to Kansas City and Topeka.

Today, Belleville is home to several businesses including a hospital, an agricultural research center, two banks (one of which is nationally chartered), two restaurants (one of which has received accolades from Zagat), several retail stores, an ice cream shop/café, two churches (one of which serves as the headquarters for a large Pentecostal denomination), and one public library. Additionally, there are several apartment complexes and single-family homes available for purchase or rent.

Real estate prices vary greatly throughout Belleville due to its location within different parts of Kansas City metropolitan area as well as Topeka metropolitan area. In general however prices for single-family homes range from $100K - $300K while apartments can be found starting at around $1K per month depending on size/location
