Macksville, KS

Macksville is a small town in Johnson County, Kansas, located about thirty miles south of Wichita. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census.

The town was founded in 1875 and named for General James MACKS, who fought in the Mexican-American War and the American Civil War. The first post office opened in 1876.

Macksville is located on U.S. Route 281 and State Highway 56, which form a north-south route through the town. Interstate 35 passes just to the east of Macksville, with access from Exit 191 (U.S. Route 281). The city is served by two newspapers: The Macksville Patriot and The Johnson County News-Record .
