McKinney is a city located in the U.S. state of Kentucky, and the county seat of Kaufman County. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 21,521. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and is adjacent to Plano, Texas. McKinney was founded in 1871 as a railroad town on the Kansas Pacific Railway line and was named for Judge Rufus McKinney, one of its founders.
