Ellington is a small town located in the southeastern corner of Missouri. The population was just over 2,000 people as of the 2010 census. The town is located on U.S. Route 65 and is about an hour from St. Louis and two hours from Kansas City.

The history of Ellington dates back to the early 1800s when pioneers began settling in the area. A post office was established in 1853 and by 1871, the town had a population of 200 people. In that year, Ellington became a railroad stop and soon after, a cotton mill was built. The mill operated until 1941 when it was closed due to World War II.

Since then, Ellington has experienced a renaissance as a small town with many businesses operating within its boundaries including a grocery store, gas station, bank, restaurant and several other small businesses. Today, Ellington is home to several churches as well as two schools - one public and one private - which serve its population of approximately 2200 people
