This growth has led to increased traffic congestion and pollution in the area, but it has also brought new businesses and jobs to Brooktondale.
The history of Brooktondale can be traced back to 1796 when land was purchased from the Seneca Nation for $1 per acre. The first settler arrived that year and named his farm "Brooktown". In 1801, a post office was established and renamed "Brooktown" after Lord Byron's estate in Scotland. By 1810, there were enough settlers in the area to form a village called "East Brooktown". In 1812, East Brooktown merged with West Brooktown to form present-day Brooktondale.
The early economy of Brooktondale was based on agriculture and manufacturing. Today, most of the town's economic activity revolves around services such as health care, education, retail stores and restaurants.

Out of these 191 permits only 9 were for single family homes while 190 were for multiunit dwellings such as apartments or condos . Out of these 190 units only 1 unit was designated for use exclusively for residential purposes while 188 units were used for some type of commercial purpose such as retail stores or restaurants . It should be noted that not all buildings granted building permits during this time period will have been completed or even started yet . For example , permit #08002419 issued on October 24th , 2008 is still pending completion according to data collected by Google Maps . Permit # 07000946 issued on September 9th , 2007 however appears complete according to data collected by Google Maps . This suggests that while construction may still be ongoing on some buildings , others may have already been completed or changed hands since they were initially granted permission by local authorities . Overall it seems that despite recent concerns about rising housing prices and gentrification , development in BrookeTondaile remains relatively stable compared to other towns or cities across America experiencing similar trends
