Sunnyside, NY

Sunnyside is a suburban community located in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, New York. The population was 24,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York metropolitan area.

The community was founded in 1905 by George W. Smith and his wife, Lillian, on land that they purchased from John Dix Robinson. Sunnyside was originally known as " Smithtown", but changed its name to " Sunnyside" in 1907 after Lillian Smith's death. The Smiths were early developers of the area and built many of the homes that are still standing today.

Today, Sunnyside is a well-maintained suburban community with a variety of housing options for residents. There are single-family homes as well as condominiums and townhouses. Many of the homes were built in the 1950s and 1960s, but there are also newer developments available. Sunnyside is convenient to both Long Island City and Woodside neighborhoods and has excellent public schools for children living in the area.
