West Nyack is a small town located in Rockland County, New York. The population was 9,906 at the 2010 census. It is part of the White Plains–Westchester– New Rochelle metropolitan area.
The town was first settled around 1798 by Dutch and English settlers. The area was then known as " Nyack Landing". The name West Nyack was adopted in 1892.
The economy of West Nyack is based largely on real estate and retail sales. There are several shopping centers in the town, including the Promenade at West Nyack, which contains a variety of stores including Macy's, JCPenney, Sears, and Target. There are also several restaurants located within the Promenade complex as well as other businesses that cater to residents and tourists alike.
