New Brighton, PA

New Brighton is a small town located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The population was 2,856 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.

The town was founded in 1818 and named for its location on the New Brighton Branch of the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad. The railroad was completed in 1836 and helped spur development in the town. New Brighton became an incorporated borough in 1892 and changed its name to New Brighton Heights in 1909. It annexed land from West Mifflin Township in 1922 and from Rankin Township in 1949.

Today, New Brighton is a thriving community with a rich history that can be seen throughout its neighborhoods and businesses. The downtown area features several historic buildings, including the Carnegie Library (built in 1903), City Hall (built in 1923), and the Fire Department Headquarters (built in 1927). There are also many restaurants, shops, banks, and other businesses located within walking distance of each other.
