The Changing Face of Home Prices in Lake Dallas, TX

Lake Dallas is a suburban community located in Collin County, Texas. The population was 10,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the DallasFort Worth metroplex.

The town was founded in the early 1920s by George W. Preston and his wife, Lela Preston. They named it after Lake Dallas, which is located just outside of town. The Porters subdivided their land into small lots and sold them to families who built homes on them. The original settlers were farmers and ranchers who raised cattle and sheep on the land that now makes up Lake Dallas Village.

In 1940, Lake Dallas became a city after voters approved incorporation by a margin of more than 2 to 1. At that time, the population was just over 1,000 people. During World War II, many men enlisted in the military and left wives and children behind to take care of their businesses while they were gone. As a result, many women took on leadership roles in civic organizations such as the Women's Club and served on city council for many years thereafter.

Today, Lake Dallas continues to be an agricultural community with several large dairy farms as well as horse farms dotting its landscape. However, since 1990 there has been a steady influx of people moving into town due to its excellent schools (including two charter schools), low crime rate (especially when compared to other areas of Collin County), excellent recreational opportunities (including fishing lakes and golf courses), proximity to downtown Dallas/ Fort Worth (just 25 minutes away via I-35), affordable housing prices relative to other parts of North Texas (due in part to its lack of high-rise development), strong economy based upon high levels of employment within commuting distance from downtown DFW as well as numerous business parks located throughout town catering both small businesses and larger corporations alike., etc...
