Centerville, UT

Centerville is a small town located in the Wasatch Front region of Utah. The population of Centerville was just over 2,000 as of the 2010 census. The town is situated on the eastern edge of Salt Lake County and is bordered by South Jordan to the south, West Jordan to the west, Sandy to the north, and Draper to the east.

The history of Centerville can be traced back to 1851 when settlers from New York City arrived in what was then known as Bear River Valley. The first settler in Centerville was Joseph Fenton who built a cabin on what is now known as Fenton Avenue. By 1853, there were enough settlers in Bear River Valley that a meeting was held to form a local government. The town that resulted from this meeting was named Centerville after Colonel Thomas C. Durant who had donated land for its establishment.

Centerville's early economy was based largely on agriculture and livestock ranching.
