Potosi is a small town located in the northwest corner of Wisconsin. The population was just over 2,000 people in 2010. Potosi is home to several businesses and industries, including a paper mill and a limestone quarry. The town's economy is largely based on agriculture and real estate.

The history of Potosi dates back to the 1800s when settlers began arriving in the area. The town was founded in 1881 and quickly grew due to its location on the Milwaukee Railroad line. At its peak, Potosi had over 1,000 residents and was home to several businesses, including a bank, hotel, newspaper office, grocery store, bakery, meat market and hardware store. However, by the early 1900s Potosi had declined due to competition from larger towns nearby and the Great Depression. By 1970 only about 100 people remained in Potosi.

Today there are few signs that Potosi ever existed as a thriving community. The town's main street has been abandoned for years and most of the buildings have been demolished or converted into other uses. However, thanks to efforts by local residents and organizations such as Preservation Wisconsin (formerly known as Historic Wisconsin), some of Potosi's historic buildings have been restored or preserved for future generations to enjoy. These include the former bank building (now used as an art gallery), the old schoolhouse (now used as a museum), the former post office (now used as an event space) and several homes that now serve as private residences or businesses
